Strong Health and Safety Regulationand strict enforcement saves lives:

Therefore…. HSC/E are retreating from it

A Hazards magazine investigation of HSE recent practice reveals HSE’s top brass is making up policy on the hoof and tripping over itself to accommodate the deregulatory pressure from government and the employer lobby .

Work-related ill-health kills an estimated 50,000 people per year in the UK, on top of the number killed in mostly preventable incidents.

Evidence shows that a strong framework of regulation and effective enforcement is what makes workplaces safer and healthier.

HSE currently proposing to downgrade regulations protecting workers from asbestos.

The HSC’s own assessment is that the evidence of any progress towards meeting the modest Revitalising Health and Safety targets is mixed, other assessments are far less favourable.

Hazards report released 14th February reveals 10 reasons why the HSE top brass make us sick.
