Tohp
was set up with a Millennium Fellowship award, and seeks to widen
awareness of the need for occupational health provision through a
network of Hazards activists. It provides advice, particularly on
Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit and support for individuals
at social security and Medical Appeal Tribunals.
Publications
There
are regular Tohpline & Billet newsletters and briefing papers
and reports such as that on the problems of workers left disabled
by work injuries and illness have been funded by the Newcastle Healthy
City initiative. Underway is a Heritage Lottery funded oral history
project recording the work illness and disease suffered by those who
built the Clyde, Dartford and Tyne tunnels in compressed air in the
1960's.
